Key Access Institute, LLC (KAI) and its staffing division, Key Surgical Assistants of Texas (KSAT), (KAI and KSAT are hereinafter collectively referred to as “Key”) were founded by Mary C. Valentine, a Licensed Surgical Assistant with over 20 years of surgical experience. Key has been staffing operating rooms with superior surgical assistants since 2004.
To broaden the staffing pool of highly educated and skilled surgical assistants, Key established a surgical-focused career school in 2010, which trains tomorrow’s surgical professionals.

We are continuously developing programs and seminars to help students from a range of surgical-related professions stay on the cutting edge.

Key surgical assistants are Licensed Surgical Assistants, Registered Nurse First Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Certified Surgical Assistants and Certified Surgical First Assistants. Additionally, they are licensed by either the Texas Medical Board, the Texas State Board of Nurses, or certified by the ABSA, NSAA and NBSTSA.
